The Lane Group, Inc. (TLG) is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. The company was founded in March 1996 by Bobby Lane and Matthew Lane. TLG’s first project was to provide Owner Representation Services for the construction of the Wallens Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The Town of Big Stone Gap allowed the Lanes to utilize a small room in the Town Hall as their first office. From those humble beginnings, TLG has grown into one of the most respected architectural/engineering firms in the region, now employing 36 individuals in three office locations: Big Stone Gap, Abingdon, and Galax, Virginia.
“The Appalachian region is our home. We were raised here, our roots are here, and we want to make a difference here in our communities,” stated TLG’s President, Matthew Lane. The firm has done just that. From the planning and design of public water and sewer systems to recreational trails, campgrounds, municipal buildings, and public housing, TLG has been involved in numerous projects, both large and small, that have improved the quality of life for residents of this region. TLG’s reputation for assisting clients in obtaining funding for their projects is unmatched. Over the past 25 years, TLG has assisted clients in obtaining well over $900 million in federal and state loan and grant monies that made many “impossible” projects a reality. “We are passionate about helping our clients bring those loan and grant dollars back to this region to invest in infrastructure improvements for our communities” said Lane. “I have no idea what challenges lay ahead in the next 25 years, but I do know that as long as our clients continue to trust us with their projects, we will continue to proudly serve the residents of the Appalachian region.”
